I had the privilege of spending a couple of days with another educator in our cat adjusting space.

Adam Painter.

He founded AP-Adjusting.com earlier this year after seeing a need to give new adjusters a little time behind the wheel with claims before they get their hands on real claims.

Adam and I talked at length about training and what new people need to know before they are deployed.

I was able to sit in and observe Adam's signature live course and had a chance to talk to his student afterwards (see part two of this series).

In short, his course is a simulation of a real live claim, including an actual phone call to a live person who has been coached to act like an insured (which I think is a brilliant touch).

At the end, the student will upload the claim and Adam will review it and give them feedback.

Adam's course also includes extensive hands-on instruction on building exteriors and roofs as well as interior scoping techniques.

BEST OF ALL:  Adam's course is recognized as "experience" by at least one IA firm - and he's working on getting more firms lined up.

Stay Connected to AdjusterTV

AdjusterTV and AP-Adjusting are not affiliated but I endorse his course as an excellent way for new adjusters to get some experience as well as shortcut the process of getting on rosters.

We're both always looking for better ways to serve new adjusters so I encourage you to share your thoughts and questions in the comments below.

Mathew Allen

I teach new catastrophe adjusters how to get started in the business.  I also build my own websites and sites for friends (who sometimes pay me).  In addition, I film and produce personal adventure videos for hunting and fishing clients.
