In my first video on AdjusterTV, I talk about how to interact with roofing contractors. When I first started as a cat adjuster handling hail claims, roofer meetings were some of the most stressful times on the storm. One day I decided to just relax and try to be nice to the guy and see what happened.
To my surprise, when I was nice and smiled and joked with the guy, he relaxed and smiled right back. We had a great meeting and even though I paid for that roof for the extensive damage, I've had thousands of meetings with contractors since and it's a fraction of a fraction of a percent that will be jerks no matter what.
It's pretty amazing how being nice to my so-called "enemies" can really pay off in customer service dividends.
